Baseball: Last week, the Pirates played against two non-league teams – Elkton on Thursday and Toledo on Saturday, the team seeing losses for both, 8-1, and 11-1, respectively.

Thursday, the Pirates found a run by N. Amador in the sixth inning, their only one for the game against the Eagles. The Eagles, on the other hand, scored three runs in the first, one in the third and four in the seventh, bringing the score to 8-1.

Saturday, the pirates only run came at the fourth inning, by J. Avila, and one RBI by C. Kelly. The Boomers established a quick lead by scoring two runs in the first inning and seven in the fourth. In the fifth, which was the last inning for the game, they scored twice, bringing their score up to 11. Monday and Tuesday the boys play East Linn Christian Academy and Mohawk, respectively, after press time.

Softball: Wednesday, the Pirates played the first non-league game against Mohawk, pulling out a win to establish their season with, defeating the Mustangs 27-7.

Natalie Juarez and Sydney Perkins shared pitching duties for the game, and together gave up seven runs. Kailey Griffin had two hits, including a double, and two RBI. Kyndle Moore had one hit and two RBI as well, while Kenzie Lawrence had four runs for the game. Monday and Tuesday, they traveled to Regis and Delphian, league and non-league games, respectively, after press time.
